Environmental & Sustainability Policy

Last edited: 16th June 2025

Tasty Digital remains committed to sustainability, transparency, and reducing our environmental impact. We regularly review our environmental impact, set clear, measurable targets, and actively drive change as a matter of principle, ensuring we leave a diverse biosphere and habitable planet for our children.

Achievements

We successfully met our sustainability goal set for May 2023, with a full report available here:Sustainability Goals for May 2023 - Update.

Current Status (as of May 2025)

We aimed to ensure that 100% of our supplied or commissioned server hosting would be powered by renewable energy by May 2025. While significant progress has been made, we fell slightly short of this goal due to a small number of legacy platforms:

  • 95% of server hosting spend is powered by 100% renewable energy.
  • The remaining 5% currently relies on carbon offsets.

All new server hosting deployments have consistently utilised 100% renewable energy since 2020.

Sustainable Activities

As policy we implement a number of sustainable activities, including:

  • Testing all new websites we develop using Google Lighthouse, running optimisations for performance and accessibility where possible.
  • Promoting cycling to work and supporting all staff who choose to cycle to work.
  • Supporting charities and not-for-profit clients with a 15% discount on services.
  • Making efforts to reduce, reuse, and recycle all our waste, including cleaning bottles and plastics and repurposing or donating old computer equipment.
  • Adherence to all current environmental legislation.

Future Goals

  • By May 2030, complete the transition of the remaining legacy platforms to 100% renewable energy.
  • By December 2027, develop a clear sustainability and environmental policy specifically for the use of AI Large Language Models (LLMs). The sustainability credentials and energy sources powering AI infrastructure are presently unclear. We aim to gain transparency in this area and set robust standards to address the associated environmental impacts.

We will continue regularly reviewing our sustainability policies as we strive to continuously improve our environmental impact.
